A-Pop is one of my favourite cons simply because what they do is different from all the other local events (even though I don't remotely have the energy to keep up with a convention-festival-rave-thing these days). What really sold me on going this year though (after supposedly going on break from attending conventions) was the venue - how could I possibly say no to a convention held in the Ontario Science Centre?!? For science-related shenanigans, I wanted to wear my Chell cosplay and finally finish my Sam Sparks (from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs), but sadly I didn't get Sam finished on time. So I wore Pepper Potts to cosplay with KW Iron Man, and Erika from Welcome to Night Vale to do a shoot with Elemental :) Once again, I tried to give this convention the #selfiecon treatment: click for the album! Mr Stark was staying at the Mystery Shack (my apartment) for the con, and we tried to be relaxed about the weekend, which on one hand meant that we had time for sleeping in and getting sushi for lunch... but on the other, we arrived to the con really late each day and missed out on a lot of programming I was kinda looking forward to. So here's what we did end up doing... (warning that photos from the burlesque shows are probably NSFW) When we arrived on Friday, the evening started off with a fun and goofy photo shoot with Cloudbreak Cosplay, featuring my Chell and Stark's partial mk. 42 armour. Then it was off to the main stage for "Cirque du Sugoi" featuring fire acts, aerial acrobatics, burlesque, and a magician. It was overall a pretty good show, though the Sailor Mars was my favourite. After grabbing dinner with friends, we wrapped the night with another burlesque show, this time featuring some of the guys from Boylesque TO. (side-note: these guys always put on a good show - check them out if you can!) Saturday was our Tony & Pepper day, and consisted mostly of exploring the actual Science Centre instead of doing any programming. Fun and totally worth it, especially for some of the photos LOL. In the evening we watched a little of the Tupper Ware Remix Party, but mostly listened as we enjoyed the exhibits, and we caught a little of the outdoor fire show before heading home for the night. Sunday was photo shoot day for me. The Science Centre turned out to have some surprisingly good locations for my WTNV angel costume, so I spent most of the afternoon shooting with Elemental and Piratica. We followed-up with what felt like the world's longest game of Munchkin in the game cafe area, and when we left, our friends kept the party going with sushi and more gaming at the Video Ninja's Den. All in all, great weekend (though I'm still sad I missed out on so much programming T_T)
