Ghostbusters: Answer the Call

Jillian Holtzmann (uniform)

PictureKate McKinnon as Jillian Holtzmann in Ghostbusters
Within 48 hours of seeing Ghostbusters: Answer the Call, no fewer than 4 friends had asked when I was going to be cosplaying Holtzmann; at which point I figured it was inevitable and just leaned in.

Overall it's a simple costume - I used Kwik Sew pattern #K3389 with only minimal alterations and sewed it up in twill and reflective tape from Fabricland. As of this writing, my accurate proton pack is still in progress (being made for me by Stark Reality). In the mean-time I'm using fun substitutes; a Christmas-lights themed one for the local holiday con (see variant below), and a "prototype" pack made to be intentionally terrible using mostly dollar-store supplies.

Variant: Happy Holtzmann-days

Partially to be festive and partially because my proton pack wasn't ready yet, I made a very special pack for myself out of a mass of christmas lights and the gun from my Crystal Entropy costume. It turned out great (though I would have loved even MORE lights) and was a fun way to debut my Holtzy cosplay.

Jillian Holtzmann ("style thief")

Picture
I needed a costume for Halloween in 2016 which would pass for acceptable work-clothes since my office doesn't do the dress-up thing. Since Holtzmann's uniform was in the planning stages, why not do what had become a habit and put together a "casual" version of a full costume already in the works?

I based my outfit on various looks that Holtzmann wears in the movie; the three at left in particular. I picked up the striped shirt, vest, pants, shoes, scarf, and shades at various local outlet stores. I couldn't justify the cost of a leather jacket just for this outfit, so I made do with options of a blazer and duster-like jacket from my closet. Other accessories are from my stockpile for the uniform costume.
