The Venture Bros.
Triana Orpheus
I have friends who are at least as fanatic about The Venture Bros as I am, and a couple of them held a Venture-themed Halloween session at Dr Sketchy's in 2008. I have several Venture Bros costumes planned, but they were all too complex to put together at the time. So... Triana. Easiest Venture costume ever.
After the party I made some improvments (including a much better wig and improved detailing) and have worn it to several conventions, even geting to enter the Anime North masquerade with Featherweight, who is also a big Venture Bros fan.
Even so, so Triana has inaccuracies (it was last-minute for Halloween after all...):
-my collar is spiked, Triana's is not. It's the only one I had on hand, and is sorely under-used as it is.
- the jolly roger on my blouse is faded. I decided not to strengthen the colour though, since I really like the worn look I ended up with.
- stripes on tights not wide enough. Not being changed.
Current status: retired / for sale.

Three and a Robot
Far from the best-written skit in the world, especially since the Monarch didn't have anything to do (to make a long story short, we had technical issues and weren't able to use the version of our skit audio which had him in it), but regardless, here it is in all it's glory. My usual Triana costume and the "double date" variant are in my Rusty Gear vlog, and Triana also makes an appearance in my NYCC video. I give an in-character interview to puppet-batman in Featherweight's Derp Knight video. |

Triana Variant: "Double Date" outfitWhen I attended The Rusty Gear in 2012, I wanted more than one Venture Bros cosplay to wear - but unfortunately I hadn't had time to make any of the others that I had planned. So, I decided to throw together a super-casual, super-easy, not-super-accurate version of the dress Triana wears on her date with Hank and Dean in the episode "Victor Echo November". I was hoping to wear the dress to the convention dance, which got cancelled, so it became my Saturday outfit instead.

Triana Variant: Pool outfit
In the season 2 episode "Assassinanny 911" Triana and her friend Kim visit the Ventures hoping to go for a swim in their pool. With my Triana wig appearing to be nearing the end of its lifespan, I figured I'd throw together her outfit from the episode to wear at the water park at Colossal Con. It didn't hurt that the con was immediately following the premiere of season 5 of the show ~_^.
The outfit isn't anything special - I painted the kitty on the t-shirt, painted the frames of the sunglasses, and removed and reattached the the strap on a tiny purse to make it into a tiny backpack. The shorts are from my closet since I couldn't find any in dark purple on short notice, and I'm wearing sandals instead of her usual shoes for my own comfort. I accessorized with the Venture Industries logo that I recently won from the Venture Home News because it just seemed to suit the outfit really well!
I had wanted to have a Triana-themed bathing suit as well (probably black with the skull logo or something) but I couldn't find anything that I liked. So I just went with a suit that I thought might fit her tastes (and also mine ^_^). I didn't think anyone would be taking bikini photos anyways LOL. Oops XD

Mrs Sally Impossible
Finally! A second Venture Bros character!
When my original costume plans fell through for NYCC 2013, I found myself with 2 weeks in which to come up with a replacement. And it somehow struck me that as long as I could find a suitable wig, I could make one of the Impossible Industries bodysuits and go as Sally, and I could do it in time. Ragz, who I was travelling to New York with, had a wig I could re-purpose, and so I was off!. I drafted the bodysuit from scratch (I needed a new block for other plans anyways), colour blocked all the white, black, and purple as in-set designs, and appliqued the "i" logo on the chest using freezer paper as a stabilizer (which worked great, OMG, I love that stuff!). The trickiest part were the gloves since I decided to hand-sew them to keep the seam allowances to an absolute minimum. The gloves alone took one of the 2 weeks I had to make the costume!
Sally's earrings are really simple - white craft foam with the edges tidied up with sharpie. The headband is just a dollar-store item I covered with spandex, and her shoes are black split-sole jazz shoes. I wanted to stay as true to the design as I could (no heels!) while still actually wearing footwear and I think the shoes worked out well. The wig was totally cut and styled in our hotel room on Friday night - nothing can every be totally finished ahead of time, right? LOL
The costume got a great reception in New York - there's so much more love for Venture Bros cosplay in the States (mostly because only the first 2 seasons have aired here in Canada), and I feel really good about how the whole thing came out, especially as a rush job. And all my work felt validated when I got to meet Doc Hammer and Jackson Public (the show creators) and they complimented the tailoring job on my suit!!! <3

More Venture Bros...
Character hoodies are something that I love to design and make. I started out with pokemon, but have branched out a little! Shown here is a HELPeR inspired hoodie!. They're great for wearing at conventions when you don't want to go for a full costume. More hoodie designs are on my crafts and accessories page.
