Thor: Ragnarok
Hela (original "punk" design)
Cate Blanchett as Hela in Thor: Ragnarok
Punk Hela was created when some friends were planning to bring punk versions of Thor and Loki to Anime North in 2018, and since I loved Hela's design but wasn't willing to put the work into an accurate costume, I was in.
The jacket was thrifted, and I hand-set as many teal-painted studs as I could, copying the designs on the movie costume. I also used painted safety pins to mimic the sleeve designs (since they cover more area), and I added a metallic fabric to the jacket hood to represent her cape. I took more liberties with the pants, taking liberal inspiration from some some fun leggings I found randomly online.
The first time I wore the costume I used my own hair, but then I switched to a faux-hawk wig from Arda; colouring the hawk green to match the costume. It's not quite as wild as Hela's antlers, but is much more manageable. The other cute detail I have to point out is that I made little earrings modelled after her daggers.

Bonus content: bodysuit
I started taking aerial silks classes in 2024 and along the way decided that I should have a unitard or two on-hand for classes, so why not pick up something which could double as cosplay? I got this bodysuit from AliExpress so the fit isn't perfect, but it definitely did give me something fun to wear for Halloween at my silks class (and also a Halloween party) in 2024. I even recorded one of the moves I'd been working on and entered it in the Con-G masquerade! Clicky for video.
