Megara
Megara in Disney's Hercules
There are a lot of Disney animated movies which I never watched in my youth, and Hercules is among them. In fact, the first time I watched it was in 2021 while working on a "Hades" Luma for Hades Knightshade, and of course I totally fell for the snarky and sassy Megara. The next year when I was thinking of a new costume to work on for the return of conventions, Meg came to mind and I dove in. Of course, as soon as Hades Knightshade heard that I was cosplaying Megara she decided to revamp her femme Hades costume, and then Lulu Rush Cosplay jumped on the bandwagon as well as femme Herc. We had the whole group together for Yeticon in 2022 and it was a blast.
The dress is bog-standard sewing for me; I altered a Vogue pattern and put it together using a very nice matte satin (if only I had Meg's figure to go with the dress lol). The wig, on the other hand, was a heck of a project with a lot of learning and new techniques. I started with a Jeannie Classic in Mahogany and basically spent an entire week styling it. I referenced several tutorials to help me out, including Arda's Megara, Kinpatsu Cosplay's KDA Seraphine, and Cowbutt Crunchies Extreme Wig Styling.
