Hawkeye
Kate Bishop - Cover Art
Both The AnarCHris and Ragz are responsible for introducing me to "Hawkguy", which I ended up liking quite a bit (although I'm still annoyed at them both for selling it as a comedy when, for the most part, it's really really not...). So when CHris suggested I join his Hawkguy/Marvel group at C2E2 2015 as Katie, I agreed, and my subsequent reading of Young Avengers (which also stars Kate) cemented that. I wasn't sold on either of her Hawkeye hero costumes, so I decided t take the easy way out and recreate Kate's outfit from the cover of Hawkeye issue 9 with the potential to do one of the other outfits later if I want to keep cosplaying "Princess Hawkguy".
When I told Kurumasha that I was going to be doing a Kate cosplay this year, she decided to move up her own Kate cosplay plans to coordinate, so we ended up doubling a lot of our shopping, buying matching pieces for everything that overlaps between the two outfits we're doing. What nerds, huh?! LOL
Although most of the costume is purchased pieces, I did a lot of customization work on the shirt. In that regard, I have some notes on my colour choices: due to the highly stylized nature of all the Hawkeye covers, I gave myself quite a bit of leeway in interpretation, taking my cues from colours used in the actual comic. Kate always wears a minimum of one article of purple clothing so I made the sleeves and collar of my shirt in a nice eggplant hue; and the aviators in all panels of the comic pages are purple, so that's what I bought instead of red. I've added splashes of colour to my props too, like the arrow fletching.
Speaking of props: These were a real group effort. I designed and made my own quiver out of EVA foam and fabric and added a little Hawkeye chevron detail for fun. The arrows are wood dowel with actual fletching glued on (sourced by Yavarice because he does the archery thing), and the arrowhead was designed and modeled by Yavarice and 3D printed by Ragz. My bow was commissioned from KW Stark Resilient

Kate Bishop - L.A. Woman
This is one of those improvised ("closet") costumes that only exists because of a very lucky shopping find. I was at Ardene (looking for something else entirely) when I spotted the purple tank with arrow motifs and references to California and it just screamed Katie. So I bought it and found a purple(ish) sun hat and that's all I needed in combination with the stuff I already had from the cover costume. It was a prefect alternate costume for the summer heat!
As above, I made the quiver, and the bow is from KW Stark Resilient. Arrowhead designed and made by Yavarice and Ragz.

Kate Bishop - Hawkini (original interpretation)
Since I was on quite the roll (being productive) in the spring of 2015, I decided that I should try to make a new swimsuit to wear to a beach cosplay hangout. Kurumasha got me on the idea of doing one based on Kate, although I decided to make it based on her Young Avengers costume instead of the Hawkeye books. I like that costumes design but I can't see myself making the whole thing, so a bikini seemed like a good idea, especially since I had a lot of leftover purple spandex at home already. I made it as an asymmetric top with small side cut-outs, boy-short style bottom with waist "cut-out", and a wrap skirt with tails. I added her distinctive white scarf to make it more obviously a "costume" just using a narrow piece of extra-wide drapery sheers. When I wore it to the beach party, I hadn't intended to keep my hair tied up all day, but it turned out to be a necessity due to the heat!

Kate Bishop - Gala Dress
This is another improvised costume - a little while ago Lelola gave me a gently used bridesmaid dress because I like purple and it's my size. So when I had the opportunity to shoot in a mostly empty hotel the day before Anime North, I figured why not add ANOTHER Hawkeye to my collection? Kate wears several dresses between the Young Avengers series and the Hawkeye, and while my dress isn't accurate to any particular one, I took heavy inspiration from the issue 2 outfit and I think that the colour alone sells it ^_^
As always, wig and shades are recycled from other costumes. Gloves are from a wedding I was in years ago, and purse is my own. I wish I'd chosen nicer shoes, but my footwear was limited by outside forces. Probably my favourite thing about this is that my necklace is a pendant with a pic of Clint and Kate (which I bought at ConBravo 2015)
Status: Active (if I have another reason to wear it)

When ConBravo! 2015 rolled around, I knew Kurumasha was going to bring her Kate Bishop costume, and originally I was going to wear my Katie too... but I thought that really, Clint and Kate is a much better team than Kate and Kate. And then I realized that I could throw together a Hawkguy costume for almost no money and almost no effort, so I did.
It's a pretty lazy closet cosplay. I sewed the purple chevron onto a black shirt and fluffed up a wig I already owned (unfortunately that didn't happen until the second time I wore it). Everything else is from my or Stark Reality's closet. I wanted to surprise everyone at CB! and be Kurumasha's Hawkguy, so mission success there! I might keep wearing it, but it seems more likely that the costume will end up in Mr Stark's collection - he makes a better Hawkguy than me anyways (as evidenced in some of my L.A. Woman photos above) LOL.
