Gravity Falls
Wendy Corduroy
Featherweight introduced me to Gravity Falls, and I instantly fell in love with the show. It was pretty much a given that I would cosplay Wendy. No question. As usual for me, it's a simple costume that I still managed to put a ton of work into.
The orange wig is a "Le Tigre Long" from Arda, which I already owned for a different costume (red wig is the version 2 replacement). The hat was purchased and then almost completely disassembled and re-constructed for accuracy. The shirt was also purchased and altered to fit better (it was surprisingly difficult to find plaid in the right colour), the jeans are ones I already own, and the boots were bought as well. I tried to paint the boots, but it didn't turn out well - you can see more about that mistake here.
I also appliqued the bleeding heart motif onto a hoodie for KW Iron Man when he wanted to join in as Robbie. Simple but effective costume. And I have a whole collection of props from the show over here: (one, two, three, four) which I made for my birthday party.
A note about the gallery: I usually stick to photos which include me/my costume for my cosplay galleries since this is my portfolio.... but this costume is very much part of the group and as such I decided to include photos which aren't of Wendy but which I love because my friends are so awesome <3
Current status: active.

Gravity Falls at Centre Island
We had way too much fun with these costumes on Toronto Centre Island at the cosplay picnic. The short version of the resulting video is to the left, and an extended cut with a lot more of our shenanigans is also available. I also did a little intro bit for the Con-G 2013 Guest Interviews video with Wendy. All three of these videos were created by D. C. Studios... as usual XD |

Variant: "Weirdmageddon"
Because my birthday landed very close to the air-date of the series finale episode of Gravity Falls, the Video Ninja and I decided to have a triple-feature Gravity Falls birthday party. So of course I was going to dress up. And being the overachiever that I am, I wanted to wear the variant version of Wendy’s outfit which appears in those “Weirdmageddon” episodes. I had to find a new plaid shirt (because I wasn’t going to rip up my original for this) which was difficult (apparently green plaid was not trendy in winter 2016) but I think I made it work. A lot of my friends wore equally thrown-together costumes and we all had a lot of fun. Maybe I’ll get proper photos of this version of Wendy someday, instead of just party selfies.
