DiGi Charat

Rabi-en-Rose

Picture
While it's neither my first costume nor my first media recreation, I consider Rabi-en-Rose to be my first "cosplay". The costume was a result of being recently introduced to DiGi Charat and a few other classic animes by my friends at university; having attended my first Anime North; and my friends bugging me to do something a little more elaborate for Halloween.

I know this is not the most accurate Rabi-en-Rose cosplay, and some parts might be improved if I get the chance, but mostly I made the changes conciously to better suit my budget and my figure. I like it just the way it is. 90% of this costume has been "upcycled" from thrift store finds. The dress itself was almost completely reconstructed from an 80's era sweet-sixteen monstrosity, with the perfect amount of extra fabric to do all the accessories. Crinoline used to be curtains, all the white fabric was a wrap top, and the tail was a fuzzy sweater. My ears (& accessories) are not to scale with the original design, but I was able to work it out so that they stay in my hair without use of a headband which is something I was quite proud of.

Current status: retired.
